Marilyn C. Agin, MD, FAAP, MA, CCC/SLP
has had a varied background.
Prior to medical school, she received her master's
degree in Communication Disorders and was a practicing
speech language pathologist treating children and
adults. She then went on to medical school, and
completed a combined residency in Pediatrics and
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York
University Medical Center and the Rusk Institute.
Dr. Agin is board-certified in the specialty of
neurodevelopmental disabilities and a Fellow in
the American Academy of Pediatrics. She also maintains
the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the
American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
She is also on the medical staff and is an Assistant
Attending of the Department of Pediatrics at St.
Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in New York City
.
Dr. Agin was the Medical Director of the Early Intervention
Program in New York City from 1998 through 2004,
and now has devoted her time to her private practice
and speaking engagements. She also has an interest
in the use of Omega 3 fatty acid supplementation
and other dietary interventions in the treatment
of neurodevelopmental delays and disorders, and
she is involved in research in this area. Dr. Agin
is a member of the New York City Chapter of the
Committee on Children with Disabilities and the
Executive Council of the American Academy of Pediatrics
(AAP). Her book, The Late Talker, published
by St. Martin's Press in 2003, has been well-received
by both parents and professionals alike. She is
a contributor to magazines like Child, Parenting,
Parents, and Working Mother, as well
as the professional magazine , Contemporary
Pediatrics.

Juliane Schmoll,
MS, CCC-SLP
Juliane Schmoll received her MS in Speech-Language
Pathology at Teachers College, Columbia University.
She has a decade’s experience at the Rose
F. Kenndy/Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation
Center (CERC) at Albert Einstein College of Medicine,
where she worked as part of a multidisciplinary
team providing evaluation and rehabilitation for
children with a wide range of developmental and
genetic disorders. She also provides private speech-language
therapy, as well as Early Intervention services
to children and their families in Monmouth County,
NJ. She has extensive experience in the areas
of speech and language impairment, including autistic
spectrum disorders, childhood apraxia of speech,
literacy and narrative development, phonemic awareness,
feeding, augmentative communication, and cognitive
impairments. Juliane is a native speaker of German
and is also proficient in Spanish.
Juliane is committed to
helping children and their families, approaching
her work with warmth, commitment, and a rare level
of engagement. |

Kelly Dwyer, MA, CCC/SLP
Kelly Dwyer, MA, CCC/SLP, has
been assisting Dr. Agin with neurodevelopmental
evaluations since September 2005. She holds a Certification
of Clinical Competence from ASHA and she is licensed
to practice in New York and Connecticut. Kelly also
evaluates and treats toddlers and preschoolers with
developmental delays in Westchester County. In addition
to earning a Master's degree in Speech-Language
Pathology from New York University, she has completed
post-graduate training in the areas of feeding,
oral-motor disorders, autism, childhood apraxia
of speech, and PROMPT. Kelly's warmth and engaging
personality, as well as her skills as an evaluator
and speech clinician, make her a tremendous asset
to the practice.

Gayle Emery Merrefield, MEd,
CCC/SLP
is a speech-language pathologist
with more than twenty-five years of experience working
with communicatively impaired children and their
families. In 2005, she became a certified instructor
for The PROMPT Institute, adding to her expertise
in motor speech disorders. Gayle had a private practice
in Staten Island, NY, for ten years where she evaluated
and treated a varied pediatric population. She has
also developed programs and lectures for parents
and clinicians on a variety of topics. Her early
work experience included public school, preschool,
and early intervention settings in which she also
took on administrative roles. Gayle joined our staff
in September 2006, when she moved to Manhattan.
She currently treats a small private caseload and
participates in case consultation. Gayle is a gifted
clinician whose skills and diagnostic acumen contribute
greater insight to the evaluation process. She continues
to be committed to mentoring new clinicians and
fostering their professional growth.
